Health and fitness have always been an important part of my life, growing up I was involved in cross-country, track and soccer and eventually decided to pursue sports medicine as a career. I attended California State University, Long Beach, originally intending to become a physical therapist. But once I began personal training, I knew I had discovered my true passion. Helping people reach their fitness goals and personal potential has became much more than a job to me; it is personally deeply fulfilling and allowed me to do what I loves most, on a daily basis. I changed her major and in 2007, obtained her B.S. in Kinesiology (exercise science). In the last 3 years I have become very involved in the NPC competing Figure Competitions, I have competed in seven NPC Competitions and placed in the top 5 every time, except for my 6th place at NPC Nationals, which I am very proud of since it was first time competing at the National Level. I am currently continuing my prep for my 2011 season and just finished 1st in my class at the NPC Greater Gulf States June 24th and 25th, which brings my 1st place count to 4 out of the 7 competitions. I will be competing at Team Universe July 9th and 10th and the rest of the season is TBD, at least until I become an IFBB Pro. My love for competing has led to my love for fitness modeling. I have done photoshoots with some of the best in the industry and I know this is only the beginning! Many people ask me about my training, diet and supplement schedule. I weight train between 5-6 days per week, depending on whether I am in my off season or prepping for stage. My workout splits will change based on this as well. The same goes for my diet, I tend to stay within 8-10lbs of my competition weight in my off-season. I am not a bulker, I don't feel I build quality muscle that way because you eventually have to burn off a lot of what you gain just to get stage ready. I follow a low-carb diet with the right amount of fats and protein. I eat 5-6 times daily, I tend to limit my carbs to only 2-3 meals per day and then I will add fats in where I take my carbs out, which is usually later in the day. My supplements are very important, especially during my cutting phase because in order to keep my lean muscle tissue from burning due to all the training, cardio and lack of calories I need to supplement just right. A few of my main supplements are your normal vitamins like, vitamin C and D, fish oils with a CLA, Alpha Lipoic Acid (antioxidant), digestive enzymes and HCL (all for digestion), biotin (for hair, skin, and nails), probiotics and most importantly my BCAA's by Alpha Pro Nutrition. BCAA's (branched chain amino acids) are very important for maintaining your lean muscle mass. The great thing about Alpha Pros BCAA's is that they are in pill form, most BCAA's are in a powder form and mixed with artificial sweeteners. Also, the pills are very concentrated so you only have to take a couple a day as opposed to some brands where you need 6-10 pills a day for the right dosage per body weight. We all need some kind of fat burner and I use Alpha Pro Nutrition's ALPHA CUTS, I love the consistent energy it gives me without giving me the jitters that some fat burners do.
